About NYCPT
Owned by trainers.
Answerable to you.
New York Personal Training is independently owned by co-founders Guy Codio and Reggie Chambers — two trainers who still coach on the floor every week. No private equity. No franchise. No investors waiting for an exit.

The landscape
Walk around Manhattan and most of the big-name gyms you pass are owned or backed by private-equity firms and investment funds.
How that model works
Investors buy a fitness brand, push for fast growth, and plan to sell within a few years. It isn't evil — it's just a business model. But its incentives are about the next quarter and the next buyer.
What you tend to feel
Sign-up contracts that are hard to leave. Trainers with sales quotas. Coaches who burn out and move on. Equipment and staffing decisions made by people who have never met you.
What we do instead
We make decisions on a long horizon, because we plan to be here. We keep great trainers, reinvest in tools that help clients — like the AlterG, InBody 570 and a red light bed — and measure success in years of progress.
Our commitments
What trainer-owned means here.
- 01
No contracts. Ever.
Session packs valid for 12 months. No membership, no auto-renewal, no cancellation fee.
- 02
No sales quotas.
Trainers recommend what you need — then you decide. The first two sessions come with no pitch.
- 03
The owners coach.
Guy and Reggie are on the floor every week. You can talk to the people who make the decisions.
- 04
Your coach, long term.
We build teams that stay. Some clients have trained with the same coach through pregnancies, illness and retirement.
- 05
Health over hype.
We train for strength, mobility, balance and recovery — the qualities that keep you capable for decades.
- 06
Reinvest in the studio.
Money goes back into equipment, education and the space — not to an outside fund.
The founders
Two coaches who built the place they wanted to train in.
Between them, Guy and Reggie have spent more than three decades coaching New Yorkers — from elite athletes to new parents to clients in their eighties. NYCPT is their studio, on their terms: personal, unhurried and built around results that last.

FAQ
Ownership, answered
Is New York Personal Training owned by private equity?
No. NYCPT is independently owned by its co-founders, Guychard Codio and Reggie Chambers, both of whom still train clients at the studio. There are no private-equity, venture, franchise or corporate investors.
Why does gym ownership matter?
Ownership shapes incentives. Investor-backed chains are typically run toward growth targets and an eventual sale, which tends to show up as membership contracts, sales quotas and high staff turnover. An owner-operated studio can make decisions on a longer horizon: keeping trainers, reinvesting in equipment and putting clients' long-term results first.
Do I need to sign a contract?
No. Training is sold in session packs valid for 12 months. There's no membership, no auto-renewal and no cancellation fee.
Your first visit
Two private sessions.
$150. No pitch.
Session one is a 55-minute assessment and workout with a certified trainer — goals, movement screen, InBody scan and a plan. Session two puts that plan to work. Then you decide.
